Sailing to Sporades
islands is a lot different than sailing in other parts of the Aegean sea. The weather there is calmer and there aren’t normally strong winds, the islands are small and with a lot of protective deep gulfs and nice beaches, and the distances between the islands small, making thus the tour of the island very convenient. The Sporades islands are very green covered by pine trees from the top of the hills to the beaches, and they have extreme beauty looking like small oasis thrown in the sea. Skiathos and Skopelos are the most touristic islands having very nice beaches to which you can sail and anchor and they can offer you both : Good taverns just next to a quite beach and strong night life in the capital villages. In Alonissos you will find something different : Long and deep gulfs with small taverns ashore where you can anchor overnight and enjoy the magic of nature and sea. From Alonissos you can sail to the near by inhabited islands (Kira Panagia, Gioura) and enjoy their beautiful and clear beaches where there is also good fishing. If you have still time in the way back to Skiathos give your self the opportunity to sail to the main land opposite of Skiathos to the beaches of Pilion Mountain and spent the night in the Lovely sea villages of Agios Ioannis and Horefto. |
